Time to put The Rembrandts on full blast and bring out your best dance moves because the long wait is finally over – a Friends reunion is officially happening this year!
With the original cast members Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer on board, the reunion special is slated on May 2020, the same time as the launch of HBO’s new streaming service HBO Max.
Chief content officer of HBO Max Kevin Reilly is very excited to welcome back the series that captured generation after generation of viewers and believes that this special is not only a reunion of the original cast but will also bring together all the viewers, new and old, that has loved the series through the years.
This will be the entire gang’s first time to get together since the show came to an end in 2004. The title and script are still in the works, and what better way to celebrate the good old days than to also bring back the original producers.
Kevin Bright, David Crane, and Marta Kauffman are the executive producers and will be working alongside the director Ben Winston and fellow executive producers James Longman and Emma Conway. The setting of the show will also be at Stage 24 on the Warner Bros. Studio, the original soundstage of the series.
And what brings this exciting news to a whole new level was the way it was revealed by the cast. Now that all original cast members are on Instagram, it’s only right that all of them shared the wonderful announcement by posting the same photo and captioned it, “It’s happening…”.
After years of reports, and the matter turning into a whole “will-they-won’t-they” issue, fans can now let out a sigh of relief and start counting down the days until we see the gang back on the screen.
