Chrissy Teigen and John Legend marked 13 years of marriage with a romantic trip to Morocco. The couple used the anniversary getaway to reflect on their relationship, family life, and the challenges they have faced together over the years.
Teigen shared photos from the trip on Instagram on Monday, Sept. 21, giving followers a glimpse of their anniversary celebration. The couple enjoyed time together away from their busy family routine and celebrated another year of marriage in a memorable setting.
Teigen Reflects on Their Marriage
Teigen wrote that the couple celebrated their 13th anniversary in Morocco. She also reflected on how their relationship has changed as their family has grown.
“As the years add up, I think we are really discovering what being a couple really is, outside of raising children together,” Teigen wrote.

Teigen, 40, and Legend, 47, are parents to four children. Their family includes daughters Luna, 10, and Esti, 3, along with sons Miles, 8, and Wren, 3.
Teigen also wrote about standing beside Legend during difficult periods in life. She said their relationship involves supporting each other through hard moments as well as sharing the happier parts of life.
“Being there when the other person is going through something impossibly hard. It’s that. And the other things, too. Lots of the other things,” she wrote.
She then added, “I will be with you through all of it, and I’d pick you and your beautiful family over and over again!”
One of the couple’s anniversary moments appeared to take place during an intimate dinner. In the final slide of Teigen’s Instagram carousel, the pair appeared in a boomerang video as they blew out a candle placed on top of a dessert.
The table featured red rose petals and a silver platter, while Teigen and Legend wore formal black-and-white outfits. The simple celebration offered a glimpse into their anniversary night in Morocco.
Growing Together Through Life
Legend has also spoken about how their relationship has changed through marriage and parenthood. In September of the previous year, he said the couple had “grown together as a couple.”
He explained that becoming parents changed their priorities, while the experiences they shared also strengthened their connection.
“And I think being parents forces you to grow up, and it changes your priorities,” Legend told PEOPLE. “But also, [for] all the joy we’ve experienced together, we’ve also had tragedy together and challenges together.”
He added that those shared experiences helped strengthen their relationship because they learned they could face difficult periods together.
“I think all of that helps cement the bond and the relationship that you have, because you know you can go through all this together with a partner,” Legend said. “We’ve grown up together and been through all the highs and lows together.”
Teigen’s Playful Marriage Advice
Teigen has also shared lighter thoughts about keeping her marriage “sexy.” In January, she joked that maintaining a little mystery can help preserve romance.
“For all he knows, I have never farted or pooped,” she told E! News. She explained that she tries to “keep the sexy and preserve the sexy in a little bit of ways.”
Teigen also joked that Legend does not always follow the same approach, but she makes sure to maintain her own playful version of it.
Teigen and Legend legally married at a New York City courthouse on Sept. 10, 2013. Four days later, they held a larger wedding ceremony in Lake Como, Italy.
The Morocco getaway gave Teigen and Legend time to celebrate their marriage away from their usual family routine. Their reflections also highlighted how parenthood, shared challenges, and years of life together have shaped their relationship.
After 13 years of marriage, the couple continues to mark milestones while making space for their partnership beyond raising their four children.
