Being a real-life princess may be less magical than being a Disney princess but it’s still just as glamorous. That certainly seems to be the case with British royalty Princess Beatrice. On the occasion of her recent wedding, let’s take a look back at Her Royal Highness’ life in the public eye.
Born to Wealth
Princess Beatrice is the firstborn child of Prince Andrew, Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. Being the Queen’s fifth grandchild, she is currently ninth in line to the British throne.
Although she may be compared to other young female royals such as Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton, Princess Beatrice has the edge of being a ‘blood princess’. This means she earned her royal title by birth instead of through marriage.
The 31-year-old also had the privilege of growing up with the luxuries that come with being a member of the royal family. She has a current net worth of $4.6 million, which reportedly come from the trust funds created by her parents prior to their divorce.
Still, the young royal earns her keep by working as a full-time ‘business matchmaker’ connecting investors with startup companies.
Social Butterfly
Despite not being an official working member of the royal family, Princess Beatrice has kept a high public profile. She’s often spotted at vacations and events with celebrities like supermodel Karlie Kloss, designer Misha Nonoo, and singer Ellie Goulding.
The Princess was even invited to attend Kloss and Joshua Kushner’s private wedding in Wyoming in 2019. Another high-profile event she’s been invited to is the 2018 Met Gala.
These frequent appearances also gave Princess Beatrice the opportunity to show off her fine taste in fashion. She’s particularly known for wearing stylish fascinators at official royal events.
Fairy Tale Wedding
However, Princess Beatrice’s most iconic fashion moment is probably her recent wedding to businessman Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
With their original nuptial plans being delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the couple decided to surprise everyone by marrying each other in a private ceremony. The secret wedding was attended by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip as well as a handful of other close family members.
The blushing bride wore a stunning vintage wedding gown that came straight out of the Queen’s own closet. The dress was designed by the Windsors’ couturier Norman Hartnell.
Another thing Princess Beatrice borrowed from her grandmother is the same wedding tiara the Queen wore on her own wedding day in 1947.
